Short version: we collect the minimum needed to run this site, we don't sell it, and you can ask us to delete it whenever you want.
What we actually collect
If you subscribe to the newsletter, leave a comment, or fill in the contact form, we get whatever you typed in - name, email, message. Nothing sneaky, nothing hidden in a checkbox you didn't notice.
Beyond that, standard analytics picks up the usual technical stuff every site collects: browser, rough location from your IP, which pages you looked at, and how long you stuck around. It's how we figure out which tutorials are actually useful and which ones need a rewrite.
What it's used for
Mostly: replying to you, sending the newsletter you signed up for, and deciding what to write next based on what people are reading. That's it. We're not building a marketing list to sell to anyone.
Cookies
A few small cookies remember things like whether you prefer dark mode, so you're not resetting it every visit. Block them in your browser if you want - the site will still work, dark mode just won't stick between visits.
Third parties we rely on
We use an analytics provider to see traffic patterns, an email service to actually deliver the newsletter, and - if that day ever comes - a payment processor for anything paid. Each of those has its own privacy policy for how they handle data on their end; we don't control that part.
How long we keep things
Comments stay published unless you ask us to take them down. Contact form messages and subscriber emails are kept only as long as we actually need them, or as long as the law requires.
Your rights
Want to see what we have on you, fix it, or have it deleted? Email us at contact@vistechie.com and we'll sort it out. If you're in the EU or California, that also covers your rights under GDPR or CCPA - things like data portability or objecting to how we process it.
Kids
This site isn't aimed at anyone under 13, and we're not knowingly collecting data from kids. If you think that's happened, email us and we'll remove it straight away.
Links to other sites
Tutorials here link out to docs, tools, and other resources fairly often. Once you click through, you're on their turf and their privacy policy applies, not ours.
If this policy changes
When it does, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Keep using the site after that and it means you're fine with the updated version.
